Research into the importance of using visual aid to promote new music for the new algorithm of apps like TikTok and Instagram. Approached by studying previous music videos from the past and how they have changed, whilst also analysing how our quickfire consumerism with social media has changed the way we engage with new things online. For my project, I shall mainly focus on how TikTok videos and Instagram reels have changed the way specifically young people consume music/other content. I will do this by citing books that cover that music industry, the importance of visual aid in music, and how downloading music online has killed the music industry. This fast paced ‘ADHD’ like way of consumerism has seriously affected how the algorithm works and who stays popular in today’s day and age. I decided to do this area of research because as an artist myself, this has directly impacted the way I share, promote, and distribute my music. Today’s technological advancement of social media and AI has significantly impacted the way social media is shared; will AI completely take over social media or is it still a thing for the public? Throughout this project I will study artists currently who have succeeded with this model and share my personal experiences with it as an artist. In my project I will work with my friend Alvin (@alvsuals) to create three videos which will highlight the use of visual aid in social media which will show my brand personality, sonically and visually to show my music.
